“The quickest road to lower scores is through Short Game improvement.”
— Dave Pelz

What are the Elements of Practice (EOPs)? The EOPs are drills and games created by one of golf’s foremost authorities on the short game, Dave Pelz. From decades of professional golf instruction and scientific research, Mr. Pelz gives SYNLawn customers the tools necessary to significantly improve their golf scores and have hours of fun doing it.

Each EOP focuses on specific areas of the short game essential to lowering scores. The most common challenges golfers face on the golf course are meticulously recreated in each SYNLawn putting green installation.

Using exact specifications designed by Dave Pelz, each break, valley, and tier come into play in each EOP for learning and improving the essential skills necessary for lower scores.

Here are just a few areas of the short game the Elements of Practice cover:

  • Short putts — almost half of the 43% of the game this is putting ... is short putting.
  • Most common putts — 20 feet is the most common putt distance golfers face throughout their golf career.
  • Lag putts — long putts require reasonable green reading and good touch to end up close to the hole.
  • Breaking putts — enhanced green reading and speed control (touch) are the toughest skills to master and are common challenges on any golf course.
  • Chip shots — with proper set-up and swing mechanics, the chip shot is one of the easiest shots in golf.
  • Bunker shots — if the bunker shot is never practiced, the bunker will always scare you.
